Crochet Corner!

When we first moved into our unit, my husband Matt brought his desk with him, and decided that I also needed a desk. He found a great desk at an op-shop for $50. It is huge, so he thought it would be perfect for all sorts of crafty things. Unfortunately it just became a dumping ground for things whenever we cleaned up the rest of the unit and I usually did my crochet on the couch in the lounge room. Here are some photos of our little study / second bedroom before the 'makeover'. These photos are from after we cleaned up a little.

The dining room chair in the second photo is where I would normally sit to crochet while we watch Youtube videos or Matt plays video games. It is not very comfortable to sit on after a while, especially as I love to have my feet up on the seat as well.

I also often managed to cover our entire couch in crochet, yarn and various other bits and pieces. In this photo I had covered so much of the couch I ended up on the other end than the one I normally sit on.

Eventually I decided that there was no point in me having a desk, and I'd much rather have a personalised little crochet corner with a comfy armchair! So that's what we decided to do.

We borrowed my mum's car, which is a bit bigger than mine, and went to Ikea. The original plan was an armchair and a bookcase. We then added on a side table (for tea or coffee and knick-knacks of course) and a standing lamp. Thankfully we managed to fit it all into mum's car, which was much smaller on the inside than I remembered!

We made it home yesterday without any boxes flying through the windshield and managed to set it all up this morning within three hours! I honestly don't understand the aversion to flat packs, as long as you follow the instructions and listen to your engineer-husband everything goes smoothly!

I now have my own little corner filled with yarn and many of my little buddies to keep me company!
